Lemuel Nelson Hiatt died December 29 in Hand county Memorial hospital in Miller, S. D., at the age of 93 years and 15 days. He was born December 14, 1861 in Sidney, Ia., and spent part of his boyhood there.
On January 28, 1886, he was married to Lillie Thornton and they moved to Nebraska and later to Kansas in the Mahaska community. In 1909 they moved to South Dakota, moving to Miller, S. D., in 1924 where they spent the rest of their lives.
Mr. Hiatt was a member of the Masonic lodge since 1906.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1933 and a daughter, Vesta Ann in 1949. Surviving are two sons, A. L. Hiatt of Albany, Ore., and C. R. Hiatt of Narka; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Luhrs of Kalama, Wash., and Mrs. Grace Trotman of Miller, S. D.; one sister, Mrs. Julia Neeley of Dighton, Kan., who was 99 years old last September; and 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 2 at the Reck Funeral home in Miller, S.D. with Rev. Duane Knight officiating.
