Shirl Joe Bennett, age 69, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 after a short illness. He was born June 3, 1940 in Cleveland County, OK (near Norman) to Charley and Fanny Inez (Moody) Bennett and grew up in that area. He lived most of his life in Oklahoma City where he worked in construction as a brick mason's assistant. He has lived in Mustang the last three years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn, two daughters Loretta and Lisa and an infant brother. Survivors include four daughters Sheliah Parker of Yukon, Wanda White of Del City, Shirl Gurley and husband Ray, Jr. of Mustang, Brandy Neeley of Oklahoma City, seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Also by two brothers Robert of Mustang, Floyd of Oklahoma City, five sisters Patricia Pace of Arkansas, Mary McMichael of Slaughterville, Mahalia Kite of Fairmont, Charlene Bybee of Tahlequah, and LaVerne Moore of Arkansas. Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 7, 2009 in the Chapel of The Good Shepherd at McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma with interment following in Bethany Cemetery, Bethany, Oklahoma.

Uncle Shirl,You are now with Aunt Jo and you both are missed so much. You truly left a legacy. I remember as a young girl all of the fun we had at your house! I will never forget you!
