Edward L Dignowity Dies He was born in San Antonio in 1847, the son of a member of Gen. Sam Houston's staff.
Edward L. Dignowity 63 years of age died Monday afternoon at 3:40 o'clock in the Dignowity home, 721 North Olive Street of pneumonia after a short illness. He had been ailing for the past month, but was able to go to Dallas and returned from there only the day before he died, being accompanied by his daughter. Mr. Dignowity was born in San Antonio on Soledad Street, opposite the old Verimendi Palace. He was the son of the late Dr. A.M. Dignowity, one of the pioneer residents of San Antonio, a member of Gen. Sam Houston's staff during the war when Texas gained her freedom from Mexico, who died in 1875. His was business was mining in Mexico. Surviving are four brothers A.F. Dignowity of San Antonio, H.L. Dignowity of Boston, Mass; C.L. Dignowity of Brookline, Mass; James V. Dignowity of N.Y. City and one sister, Mrs. John T. Hambleton of San Antonio and one daughter Mrs. Florence Sullivan of Dallas. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon in the family residence, 721 North Olive Street. The internment will be made in the Dignowity lot in the Dignowity Cemetery.
