Forrest V. Riedberger, 86, Hawley, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minn..


Mr. Riedberger, known as "Dit," was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Hawley, where he graduated from high school in 1936. On Jan. 8, 1939, he married Grace Whaley in Hawley. Throughout the years he worked for the Hawley Creamery Association, Bob Fritz Sporting Goods, Moorhead, and drove a bus for the Hawley school system and owned and operated Riedy's Drive-In in Hawley..


He is survived by his wife; a son, Dick (Kathy), Detroit Lakes; a daughter, Pat (Mike) Elton, Burnsville, Minn.; two brothers, Raymond (Mildred), Tygh Valley, Ore., Ron (Mary), Vista, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn (Kermit) Knudson, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren..


Visitation: Tonight from 5 to 7, with a prayer service at 7, in the Hawley Lutheran Church and Saturday from noon to 1 in the church..


Funeral: Saturday at 1 in the church..


Burial: Hawley Cemetery..

Forrest "Dit" Riedberger married his high school sweetheart Grace Whaley on January 8, 1939. Children born to this union were Patricia (husband: Mike Elton) & Richard (wife Kathleen Odegaard).

In 1961 the couple opened Riedy's Drive In which they sold in 1978.
