Louisa Gay was the Native American wife of George Kirby Gay. She and her husband built the first brick house west of the Rocky Mountains near Wheatland, Oregon. She lived her entire life in the Oregon Territory and was hostess to many important visitors in her home. Louisa and her husband entertained many travelers to the area including Commodore Wilkes who mentioned her in his famous Wilkes Narrative.
Louisa Gay, the mother of George Kirby Gay's nine children, died around the time Henri was born. Their known children are as follows:
