James Gardner of Freedom dies of Infirmities
James Gardner, one of the earliest pioneers of the town of Freedom, died of infirmities yesterday at the age of 68 years. While plowing a year ago his team became unmanageable and he had to misfortune to fracture his leg since which time he had been in ill health. The decedent was born in Ohio and came to this county forty-five years ago. He is survived by a wife and seven children, Matthew, Washington; Mrs. Schafer, Mrs. Ida Thursay, Rhinelander; Wilbur, Lake Geneva; Edward, Freedom; Mrs. Mary Simpson, Black Creek; Mrs. Dora Hager, Appleton. The funeral will be held from his late home tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock

The pioneers of Freedom, Osborn and neighboring towns will hold their annual picnic and visit at the farm and home of James Gardner, on section 7, town of Freedom, on Thursday, June 17, 1897. All the pioneers of the county are cordially invited to be present.
