It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Winnifred Yorke, 82, a resident of Miners Memorial Manor, Sydney Mines, and formerly of North Sydney, on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at the Manor.
Born in North Sydney, Winnifred was the daughter of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Griffin) Yorke.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. Winnifred was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie, Kathleen, Mary, Regis, Josephine and Jeanette (with whom she resided prior to Memorial Manor) and her brothers, Anthony, Gordon, Gus, Frank, Bernie and Martin.
There will no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held for Winnifred at a later date at St. Joseph Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of choice.
The funeral mass for the late Winnifred Yorke, a resident of Miners Memorial Maner, who passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
