Sarah Elizabeth "Denny" Hicks, daughter of William Denny and Dicie "Van Fletcher" Denny. She married Isaac Lincoln (Ike) Hicks, born Aug. 24, 1856 in Rockcastle Co., Kentucky on 5 March 1877. He was killed while on special police duty in Bartlesville. Oct. 16, 1903 in Washington County, OK and is buried in White Rose. Sarah Elizabeth was born Dec. 26, 1859 in Pulaski County, Kentucky and died in 1890, Bartlesville, Washington Co., Oklahoma. She was the mother of nine children, daughters, Virgie Hicks (Hymer) (Aug. 14, 1887 - Apr. 21, 1946), Roda S. (ABT 1879), Ethel Flora (Feb. 4, 1889 - Mar. 2, 1987), Alice Malinda (Allie)(b: 1881 Pulaski Co., KY), twins, Dicie Ann and Dicie Jane, and Mary, sons Morty and William Bailey Hicks (June 22, 1885 - Dec. 28, 1967).

The Tyners had recorded her as "Mother Hicks" at pg. 108 of that volume containing Jesse Creek Cemetery. Her real name must not have been know to them. (Our People and Where They Rest, American Indian Institute, circa 1970)
