Billie "Ruthie" Hubbs

Billie Ruth Hubbs, 77, of Camp Verde former longtime resident of Flagstaff passed away after her long and courageous fight with cancer. She was born January 7, 1932, in Cottonwood to Lawrence Joseph and Irma Burkett Rice.

Ruthie was an excellent homemaker even as she worked as a telephone operator for 9 years. She was married to Doug Ray from 1948 to 1982 when he passed away. She loved to hunt and fish and even had a trap line for a while. She was famous for her story telling, her Green Chile and Pinto Beans. For years Ruthie has collected angels she had them all surrounding her, now she is with the angels.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her first husband Doug Ray, her parents and brothers Tuffy and Terry Rice.

She is survived by her second husband Jay Hubbs, of Camp Verde, son Douglas Ray of Huachuca City, AZ, sister Jessie Rice, of Flagstaff, step-daughter Jean Post and step-son Kenneth Hubbs. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as way as many nephews and nieces.

A Graveside Service will be 1 pm, Wednesday April 29th at the Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff, AZ

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 203 South Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326
