Golda Webb
Tunnel Hill--Golda Webb, 85, formerly of Tunnel Hill, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday, Jan 27, 1995, at Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, where she had been a resident for the past five years.
She was born Feb. 12, 1909, in the Cedar Grove Community, near Buncombe. Her parents were Charles Hankla and Minnie (Walker) Hankla.
Golda was raised by her grandfather, Marion Walker.
Golda was united in marriage to Ray Webb on November 25, 1925. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1986.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Edith Webb, Glenn and Phyllis Webb and Phil and Cara Webb, all of Tunnel Hill, and Bob and Edna Ann Webb of Goreville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Harley Throgmorton, of Sparta, Elaine and Reggie Romine of Danville, Norma and David Martin of Vienna, Charlene and Dale Hodge of Goreville, and Jean and Mike Phillips of Clemmon, N.C.; 27 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bertha McCorkle and Beulah Gage of Granite City.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Davis and Elma Burnley; and one brother, Paul Hankla.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Tunnel Hill branch, and was a past member of the Johnson County Homemakers Extension.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the RLDS (Webb) Church, near Tunnel Hill. Eldor Gordon Lambert will officiate. Burial will be in Webb Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Whitnel Funeral Chapel in Goreville.
Memorials may be made to the Tunnel Hill RLDS Church building fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.
