BECKWITH MAN DIED SUNDAY.

The sudden death of George McCORMICK last evening at his home in Beckwith was a great shock to many friends and relatives in this city. Mr. McCORMICK was one of the pioneer settlers of the county and since coming to Iowa had resided in Buchanan township, spending the greater part of his life within half a mile of where he first settled in Buchanan township.

Mr. McCORMICK's death occured (sic) Sunday evening between six and seven o'clock at his home and came suddenly. He had complained of a pain in his side earlier in the day but that seemed to grow better towatrd (sic) evening. He was able to go out in the yard and look after his chickens only a short time before the Death Angel came.

Mr. McCORMICK was seated in a chair and near him wife and son Frank who had come to spend the evening with him. Suddenly his head fell on his breast and when his son reached him he was dead.

The shock was so great his aged wife is nearly prostrated.

Mr. McCORMICK was born March 5, 1873 (sic - 1837) in Indiana and in early man1hood (sic) was united in marriage to Sarah HOWARD who with the six children survive him. He came to Iowa over half a century ago and made the trip overland in a wagon. He has been a resident of Buchanan township ever since.

Mr. McCORMICK is survived by his wife and six children, who are as follows: Mrs. Mary DAVIS, 205 E. Briggs street, Fairfield; Mrs. R. T. McCLAIN, 500 West Broadway, Fairfield; Mrs. Charles WHITHAM, of west of Fairfield; Mrs. Dallas GREEN and Frank McCORMICK of Beckwith and Scott McCORMICK of Glendale. Four sisters also survive, and they are Mrs. Sarah GREEN, Mrs. Samantha CLAPP, Mrs. Ed. YOUNG and Miss Harriett McCORMICK all of this city.
