Son of Lawson Monnet and Jane (Collings) Monnet. Father of Taylor E. Monnet, James Lawson Monnet, and Leon A. Monnet. Married Martha A. Conley July 10, 1845, Putnam County, IN. Later he married Rachael Ruth Rogers. Served in the Iowa 3rd Calvary, Southern Border Brigade (Co. A, 2nd Battalion), and Co. D, 45th Iowa Infantry during the Civil War.
