the veteran attorney of this city, met his death by drowning in the Dolese Shepard & Co's. quarry on Wednesday, Aug. 22d.
He left home on Wednesday morning and when night came and he had not returned home folks became alarmed and inquiry as to his whereabouts was made, but no trace could be found.
On Thursday morning his hat and walking stick were found near the quarry and it was believed he met his death by drowning.
After an hour spent in endeavor to recover the body it was brought to the surface.
An inquest was held and the coroner's jury returned the verdict of accidental death from drowning.
Mr. Haight was 77 years old and for about 12 years suffered from rheumatism and paralysis, but was able to be about.
Funeral services were conducted from his late residence on Friday afternoon at two o'clock.
His wife and two sons, Hally and John R., survive him.
