Ruby Hatch DeValcour, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in her daughter's loving arms on July 25, 2009. Henry had come to get his beloved Ruby to continue their road trip through eternity and she was ready.
Ruby was born November 5, 1912 in Lovell, Wyoming to Ole and Pearl Hatch.
She married Henry DeValcour in 1929. In 1995, she received her temple endowment and was sealed to her husband.
They had a home in Pocatello, Idaho, and raised wheat and barley in Arbon Valley, Idaho all their working years. Henry and Ruby enjoyed many years together hunting, fishing, trailering, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
The best years of their retirement were spent in Sun City, Arizona. After Henry's passing, Ruby moved to the Seville Retirement Center in Orem and then to the Highland Cove Retirement Community in East Millcreek to be closer to family.
She enjoyed a lifetime of gardening, cooking, crocheting, beading, daily crossword puzzles and playing Bingo, Skipbo, and Poker. Being an avid journal keeper and story teller her whole life encouraged her family to write and publish her life history for her last birthday.
She is loved and survived by her only child, Peggy DeValcour Carey; and five beloved grandchildren, Linda Carey Woodman (Bryan), Steven Carey (Cathy), Doreen Carey, Dale Carey (Connie), and Michelle Carey Roberts; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren and many friends.
An informal memorial service/viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah.
Interment will be held in Pocatello, Idaho at the Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday at 2 p.m.
