CLINTWOOD – Violet Baker, age 84, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003. She had lived most of her life in Dickenson County and was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter D. Baker, sister, Opal Mullins, brothers, Charles and Roy Ward, and two daughters-in-law, Glenda Baker and Joddy Baker.
Her survivors are her children, Patricia "Trish" Newberry of Bristol Tennessee,Ronald Jack Baker and wife Connie of Clintwood, Joyce Hayes of Lebanon, Doug Baker and wife Nancy of Lebanon, Sheila Phipps and husband Ron of Clintwood,
Walter Eugene Baker and wife Mavis of Clinchco and Larry Baker of Lebanon; special friend, Happy Hixon of Clintwood; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Baker Cemetery, Baker Ridge Section, Clintwood.
Pallbearers: grandsons, Kenny Newberry, Jeff Newberry, Greg Baker, Mike Baker,Chuck Baker, Shane Baker, Alex Baker and Josh Baker. Honorary pallbearers: Russell Phipps, Leonard Fletcher, Effie Molinary, Ron Phipps, granddaughters, Tammy Canter, Kim Newberry, Rhonda Lee Poston, Robin Davis, Melissa Hayes, Christy Fleming, Misty Stanley, Tina Hillman, Amy Lynn Smith, Stephanie Jean Martin and Jennifer Ann Baker.
The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in the Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m., with Darrell Fletcher and Mike Baker officiating.
