Birth: Jul. 27, 1871
Missouri, USA
Death: Mar. 16, 1933
St. Francois County
Missouri, USA

Eliza "Ida" Isabel/Isabella Murphy was the daughter of Byrd {s/o Zebulun & Amanda Murphy} & Caroline (nee Zolman) Murphy {d/o Basil & Mary "Polly" Zolman}. According to Ida's obituary she was the mother to Theodore, Charles, Nettie, and Earl David.
The 1910 US Census shows Ida as the head of the household with daughter Nettie (born circa 1894) and son Theodore A. (born circa 1903).
The 1930 US Census shows Ida again as the head of the household and listing Nettie (born circa 1895) as her daughter and Charlie (born circa 1911) & Earl (born circa 1916) as the sons.

While Ida's obituary had her as "Mrs.", no records of her being married have been identified. Her brother Richard Murphy's obituary has her listed as "Miss Ida Murphy" in 1927 which would have been years after her children would have been born. The children had a 22 year gap in their ages from oldest to youngest.
With the age gap of the oldest to the youngest of the children, was Ida the biological mother or did she adopt some or all of the children?

Final note on one of Ida's children: It appears Nettie Murphy had some challenges as she lived with her mother until Ida had passed when Nettie was around 40 years old and by the 1940 census, Nettie at the age of 47 was living in an adult group home in St. Francois County. According to the 1940 census her highest education level was 4th grade. By 1941 Nettie was admitted to the State Mental Hospital in Farmington.
