Savannah - Carlton McKenzie Parker, Sr., 96, died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at home after a short illness. He was a native of Wilmington, North Carolina. He subsequently moved to Brevard, North Carolina, where he graduated from Brevard High School. He then attended Duke University and completed his education at North Carolina State University with a degree in Textiles. He began his career as an interior designer with W&J Sloane in Washington, DC. He then relocated to Savannah and founded Parker & Klug Furniture, Carlton Parker Furniture and Tailor-Made Draperies, Inc., respectively. He was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Savannah Yacht Club, and a former member of the Rotary Club in Brunswick, Georgia and the Exchange Club in Savannah. He was a humble Southern gentleman, who loved God and was devoted to his family. He truly touched the lives of everyone he encountered with his warm smile. He will be missed by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gloria Wimberly Parker of Savannah; three sons, Carlton McKenzie Parker Jr., Charles Wimberly Parker both of Savannah and William Robert Parker of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Suzette Parker Hodgson of Atlanta, GA and Martha Ann Parker of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren, Erika Parker Anchors, Jennifer Parker Drew, Carlton McKenzie Parker, III, Charles Wimberly Parker, Jr., Gloria Wimberly Warner, Sarah Rebecca Parker all of Savannah and Alastair Wakefield Parker of Atlanta, GA, and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2007 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church with burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Remembrances to Wesley Gardens Fund of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church of Hospice Savannah.
