Born in Somerset Co., PA. A 1921 newspaper article says Rocksburg, but there is no Rocksburg in Somerset Co. There is a Roxbury... Research continues.
Mustered into the U.S. Army, Nov. 4, 1866. Served as a Pvt., 21ST U.S. INFANTRY. Mustered out Nov. 4, 1869. Also shows service in 32ND U.S. INFANTRY.
Buried 10/6/1926 on a hill in Kelvin, Arizona, on property he most likely owned. Supposedly buried with his dog, Dickie. No canine bones were discovered during disinterment on 9/26/2009.
Reinterred at Kearny Memorial Cemetery on 10/3/2009 next to his great-granddaughter, Barbara Gonzales Brown. His third wife, Maria, lies next door at the Ray Memorial Cemetery.
