She was born and raised in Wenatchee and later lived in Bremerton, where she worked as a nurse at Bremerton Hospital and as a charge nurse at a senior care facility, retiring in 1968. She relocated to Rancho Cordova, California, and worked as a cook, nurse, and payroll clerk for a daycare center before settling in Placerville in 1996.
Survivors include four children, Gene Garot of Kent (WA), Ruth Renberg of Leavenworth (WA) and Sun City, AZ, Leon Garot of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Mary Dohnke of Diamond Springs, CA; and three brothers, Chuck Barnhart of East Wenatchee, Bob Barnhart of Pahrump, NV, and Floyd Barnhart of Auburn, California.
