POCATELLO - Boyd Lee Arnold, 77, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2009. He was born January 22, 1931, in Rexburg, ID, to Ernest Dewey Arnold and Verlie Eleene Bybee Arnold. He attended School at Cedar Point and Madison High in Rexburg.

On November 1, 1950, Boyd married Juanita (Nita) Waters in Ucon, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born six children, Vana, Nina, Alene, Milon (Butch), Fonda and Donnel.

Boyd served in the National Guard in the early '50s. He then worked in a variety of occupations including sales and roofing, but primarily he was a truck driver. In 1988, he retired from truck driving to help Nita with the family business known as Tuffbag, where they manufacture and sell various bags and luggage. He was still cutting out bags three weeks prior to his death.

Boyd was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in a variety of church callings. He most loved serving in the temple. He and Nita served a temple mission in Dallas, TX, in 1993, for one year. They loved it so much they returned to serve an additional six months. They recently concluded five years of service at the Idaho Falls Temple.

Boyd loved camping, fishing, gardening and experimenting with just about anything that caught his interest. He was always tinkering with some project or another and did extensive remodeling to every home they lived in (including rentals).

Survivors include his wife, Nita; his children, Vana Turnbeaugh (Ray), Nina Zahm (Larry), Alene Robison (Sid), Fonda Oliphant (Adrian), Donnel Arnold (Brenda); daughter-in-law, LaShelle Bennett; his siblings, Ruth Fullmer (Darrell), and Larren Arnold; 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Boyd was preceded in death by his father and mother, half-brothers, Kenneth and Paul, his half-sister, Deniece, his brothers, Brent, Jack, Harlo and Val, and his son, Milon.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Lakeview LDS Ward Chapel, 1440 Lakeview Drive, with Bishop Rick Fawcett conducting. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening in the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N 15th Ave., Pocatello, and at the Church from 10-10:45 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Online guest book and condolences available at www.cornelisonfh.com.
