Birth: in Sabetha, Nemaha county, Kansas.

Isabelle worked in department store then at a local bank for many years, living with her sister Marjorie, never married. Later years after Majorie's death, spending winter holidays with cousin Muriel (Haight) Boggess' family in Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri(ah), whose only granddaughter would travel to get and return her home.

Among Isabelle's estate, left to a third cousin, was an 18 K yellow gold pocket watch with Lincoln and a wreath engraved on one side and a ship's anchor on the other.

A search through Christie's of New York revealed that 5 or 6 watches with different emblem's on the back, were commissioned by his widow, Mary Todd Lincoln (1818KY-1882IL), following Abraham Lincoln's (1809KY-1864DC) untimely death, by the earlier Breitling company of Geneva, Switzerland. It was said they were to be given to his cabinet members, this one, no doubt to Gideon Welles (1802CT-1878CT), his friend and Secretary of the Navy. How it came into the family is a mystery, reportedly via her aunt Lena May Morris who was born in Illinois around 1870, likely Henry county. Lincoln had given a speech the day following Stephan Douglas' speach of October 1858 in Henry county, but this was twelve years before Lena's 1870 birth, so the mystery remains as to how or why this watch ended in the estate of Mary Isabelle Graham, last surviving party of that generation, now (2011) in posseson of Isabelle's third cousin.
