During the Battle of the Bulge. 1Lt Paul R Ostrom Capt. Wilbur C. Cox, 2Lt Daniel P. Winegar, T/Sgt Ira L. Mooney and T/Sgt Salvatore A Visi were Killed when their plane crashed. They were recovered in 1949 and most wer buried in a single grave at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery plot #79 0 507 on September 30, 1949.Ira Mooney was buried at Ardennes Cemetery and Wilber cox was buried at Lorraine. The 6th crewman S/Sgt Charles J. Bohm parachuted from the crippled and flaming B26 into enemy territory and was taken POW until the end of the war in April 1945.
