Eddie was the second son of Jonell Sanders Coker and James Coker, formerly of Tupelo, MS. His mother and my husband, Don, were brother and sister. Eddie developed a brain stem tumor when he was just 5 years old. He went through surgery, but it was in an area where it could not be removed. He was a brave little boy, enduring chemo and radiation treatments. He got progressively worse and passed away on January 7, 1980. He would have turned 6 in March.
He left his parents and one brother, Kerry Coker. It was a very difficult time for the whole family. Death of a loved one is never easy, but the death of a child leads us to ask many questions. His mother questioned why for many years. She now has her answers for she just passed away on April 20, 2009 from uterine cancer.
I pray that they are both together and finally at peace.
Love you always.

~Little Angel~

When God calls little children
to dwell with him above,
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of his love.
For no heartache compares with
the death of one small child
Who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to his fold,
So he picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them,
and so he takes but few
To make the land of heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try,
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be good-bye.
So when a little child departs,
we who are left behind
Must realize God loves children,
angels are hard to find.
