Old Golconda Man Dies At His Home
Winnemucca, Sept. 23. - Levi Backus, for twenty years a resident of Golconda, died there Saturday at the age of seventy-seven, death being caused by kidney trouble. He was a native of New York state and came to Golconda with his family from Utah. He leaves a widow, a son, F.E. Backus and nine grandchildren. The funeral was held at Golconda yesterday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. Ross Turman of the Episcopal Church. The remains were brought to Winnemucca for burial and were followed by a large number of relatives and friends the entire distance.
