Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rudolph Frank Malek, Sr., and by two sisters and six brothers.
Mr and Mrs Malek were among the original founding members of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mrs. Malek was a native of Beasley, Texas but lived the majority of her life in Houston. She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother.
Lena is survived by her eight children: Agnes (John) Machecek of Shiner; Rudolph (Margie) Malek, Jr. of Caldwell; Daniel (Dianne) Malek; Lawrence (Selma) Malek; James (Joan) Malek; David (Judy) Malek; Bernadette Malek Pledger, all of Houston, and Barbara (Edo) Pellizzari of Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many other loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their special gratitude to Mrs. Evelyn Miller, Mrs. Malek's dedicated caregiver during the past six months.
Visitation and viewing begin at 5 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2009 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2730 Nelwood Dr., Houston, Texas with rite of committal to follow in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
