Jonathan IV was the son of Jonathan Farnsworth, III and Rachel Nutting. He was born 6 Sept 1758 in Harvard, MA and died 23 Aug 1840 in Bakersfield, VT.

His wife Anna was born 30 May 1766 in Lancaster, MA and died 2 June 1825 in Bakersfield.

Jonathan Farnsworth was Revolutionary soldier, serving as a Private in Capt. Benjamin Brown's co., Col. Michael Johnson's regt. in the Continental Army. He was pensioned under the acts of 1818 and 1832. (Revolutionary War Soldier Buried in Franklin County, Vermont compiled by W. R. Branthoover, 1979. Produced in Cooperation with the Georgia Historical Society and the Vermont Historical Society, Sept 1982)
