Bernice Gurr Jackson was born May 15, 1917 in Naples, Utah to George Albert and Alice Victoria White Gurr. She was the fifth in a family of ten children.


She passed away on January 13, 1997 at her home of an apparent heart attack with family members by her side.


She had lived in the Uintah Basin all of her life.


She married her childhood sweetheart, Glenn W. Jackson, on April 27, 1934. Their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 14, 1941. Glenn was killed in the Bonanza Mine explosion on November 5, 1953. Bernice and Glenn were the parents of eight children and to her credit, she raised alone.


She is survived by her children: Marnell (Gerald) Rowley, Salt Lake City, Utah; Sherron (Donneita) Jackson, Kent (Kathryn) Jackson, all of Vernal, UT; Glena (Buck) Hall, Riverton, UT; Lane (Joyce) Jackson, Harley (Tonah) Jackson, all of Vernal, UT; Danny (Louise) Jackson, So. Jordan, UT; Randy (Becky) Jackson, Vernal, UT; 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Gurr, Jensen, UT and sisters, Vera Gurr, Lola Peterson, Madge Jackson and Ella Allen, all of Vernal, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, one brother, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 17, 1997 in the Davis Third Ward Chapel, 4080 South 2500 East, Vernal, UT. Friends may call at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the Chapel on Friday morning one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of Thomson's Vernal Mortuary.
