KILLEEN — Services for Retired Elmer G. Anderson Chief Warrant Officer, 82, of Killeen will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen.
Burial will be in Central Texas Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Anderson died Friday, July 17, in a local nursing home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1927, in Burt, Neb., to Charles and Lena Anderson. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950. He became an Aviator in 1959, and served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. His awards include: Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal; Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Medal w/numerals 31; National Defense service Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal; Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; United Nations Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver and 1 Bronze Service Stars; Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/10 year device; Combat Infantry Badge; Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation; Master Army Aviator Badge; Presidential Unit Citation; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry 2/Palm. He retired in 1981 at Fort Hood.
He flew helicopters to off shore oil rigs in Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana—active with Young Eagles—Avid Auto Mechanic; Member Killeen Pilots Association; Charter Member Army Aviation Association; Lifetime member Hot Air Balloon Association; and many other aviation associations, attended church services at the 19th St Chapel and the Anderson Chapel on Fort Hood.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jean Anderson of Killeen; a daughter, Debi Sadler of Corsicana; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
