Dorothy Annette Barber, 74, Topeka, died Friday, July 30, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Barber worked for the State of Kansas for 38 years before retiring April 30, 1987. She worked in the Department of Tax Revenue and the State Deparment of Education.
She was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Kingsdown, the daughter of James E. and Ella May Baldwin Scott. She was raised in Kingsdown and graduated from Kingsdown High School in 1944. She moved to Hutchinson in 1944 where she lived until she moved to Topeka in 1948.
Mrs. Barber was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where she had taught Sunday School and served as an Elder and Deaconess. She was a member of the Women of the Moose since 1961 and served as committee chairman, recorder, chaplain, junior and senior regent, ritual chairman, college of regents, star recorder and academy of friendship. She also was a member of the YWCA.
She married Frank J Barber on Dec. 3, 1949. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, John f. Scott, Kingsdown.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Central Presbyterian Church. Women of the Noose No. 1091 will also conduct services.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Barber will lie in state from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
