I've heard differing stories about when Nick first came to the US. One says in 1912, another says in 1923. Perhaps both are true. Certainly he had a sense of adventure. His wife, Marie, was also from Denmark and that some of his children were born there. Only the youngest was born here for sure.
He and his brothers had lived in Randolph and Beldon, but ultimately Nick and Marie settled near Laurel where their family grew up.
They lived most of their lives in the Laurel area. Nick and his wife are buried in Laurel. There are grave sites for their two son's and their spouses near-by.
