Not much is known for sure about Jennie McIntyre's early life. According to her family and obituary, her maiden name was McIntyre, but according to her death record, her father's name was Stephen Leonard.
She was born in 1864 in "Tuscola, Oakland County, where she received her education" according to an article detailing her death. She may have worked as a servant/housekeeper for the Failing family in Van Buren county in 1880.
On July 3 1888, Jennie McIntyre married Frank Freeland in Saginaw, Michigan. The couple had eight children.
On May 14, 1914, Jennie went out to search for her daughter Albertina, who had run away. (She had actually run away to fetch the police to arrest her parents for scolding her the night before for staying out too late). They found Jennie on the doorstep of the neighbor's house death from a heart attack.
According to the death record, she was buried in Freeland, Michigan, and according to the newspaper article, she was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, where the rest of the Freelands are buried.
