Johannes "John" PINN, born in Üxheim, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany, was a son of Joannis Philippi PINN, also known as Johannis Phillip "Johann" PINN, of Üxheim, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany and Veronica GIEFER of Leudersdorf, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany.
Paternal grandparents were Tomas PINN of Schüller, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany & Anna Helena GOERGEN of Üxheim, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfaltz, Germany.
Maternal grandparents were Johannis Nicolaus GIEFER of Ahrdorf, Blankenheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and Anna Catharina MEYER/MEIER of Leudersdorf, Vulkaneifel, Rhineland-Pfalz, Germany.
Johannes "John" PINN, his father and siblings, immigrated to the United States in 1881. His mother died in Germany.
His father, Joannis Philippi "Johann" PINN, was quoted in an article in Chicago's "Katholischen Wochenblat" [Catholic Weekly] Magazine" in 1881:
Der Ackerer Johann Pinn aus Üxheim verläßt die Heimat 1881: "Die Familie stand früher in ziemlichen Verhältnissen. Durch den Brand in Üxheim, dann durch Hagelschlag und die schlechten Ernten der letzten Jahre ist die Familie in ihren Vermögensverhältnissen ganz heruntergekommen."
The farmer, John Pinn of Üxheim, who left the country in 1881, states: "The family was formerly in considerably good condition. By the fire in Üxheim, then by hail impact and poor harvests of the last years, the family has come down in its financial circumstances completely"."

September 13, 1907
John Pinn, former member of the San Antonio police force, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 2107 West Commerce street. He is survived by his widow, three sons and five daughters. The sons are John, Leon and Werner PINN and his daughters are Mrs. Mary SURTEES, Annie, Francis, Elsie and Lorine PINN. He was a member of the Hermann Sons and the Knights and Ladies of Honor.
The funeral will be held from the Sacred Heart church at 4:30. Interment will be made in the St. Joseph cemetery.
