Mrs. George W. Deal, a notice of whose death will be found in another column, was 84 years old and one of Saline's pioneer citizens, she having moved here in 1856.

Deceased was born and reared near Waynesburg [Waynesboro], Virginia and remained there until after her marriage. She was a Rebecca Coyner and belonged to one of the Old Dominion's best families. She with her husband and family settled upon a farm in the western part of the county soon after coming to Missouri and continued to live there until the Fall of 1882 when they moved to Marshall and remained until 1883 when they moved back to the old neighborhood. The husband died in 1884 and the widow with her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. and Mrs. Clay Lemmons, remained on the farm until the Spring of 1887, when they came back to Marshall and the aged lady remained there until her death. She had been lame and almost helpless for some time before her demise.

Probably no lady in the county had a larger number of grandchildren and relatives. Nine children survive the mother. They are Messrs. Milton and Julius Deal of Saline and Mr. Newton Deal of Texas, Mesdames H. J. and J. A. Halley, Mrs. Robert James of Paris, Texas, Mrs. G. M. Coyner of Mt. Leonard, Mrs. Paul Schindorf near East Lynn and Mrs. Clay Lemmons of this city.

The funeral took place from the residence in this city on Saturday morning and the remains were taken to the Pisgah Cemetery for interment. The service which was conducted by Rev. W. R. Dobyns was conducted at the grave.
