Mr. Tillisch came to the Osnabrock area and joined Dovre Lutheran Church in 1882. He was a surveyor and surveyed in this area. He homesteaded in the NE quarter of Section One of Alma Township.
On June 14, 1894 he married Fredrikke Blichfeldt in Grand Forks. Fredrikke was born February 7, 1864 in Drammen, Norway. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at Drammen and confirmed in the Episcopal Church in London, England.
Mr. and Mrs. Tillisch moved to Osnabrock in 1901. He was president of the First National Bank of Osnabrock for thirty years until it suspended business during the bank holiday March 6, 1933. Mr. Tillisch was village treasurer ever since Osnabrock was incorporated until the time of his death and also was Alma School District Treasurer at the time of his death. He was a member of the Milton Masonic Lodge No. 48 A.F. and A.M.
The Osnabrock community lost one of its most prominent pioneer citizens when Thomas L. Tillisch passed away at his home December 16, 1942 at the age of 85. He had been ill with a stomach ailment for two weeks and died as a result of complications. Since Dovre had no pastor, services were held at the Zion Evangelical Church north of Osnabrock and Rev. G. W. Bergland, pastor of the church, was in charge. Interment was in Union Cemetery at Osnabrock.
Mrs. Tillisch moved to Grand Forks before she passed away April 26, 1949 at the age of 85 in the Grand Forks hospital where she had been confined about five months. Her funeral was held at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock with Rev. M. R. Cory in charge and Mrs. Carl Strand at the organ. Burial was in the family plot in Union Cemetery.
