MRS. EDITH ESTHER BOYER, 77, a former Knox resident, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday January 31, 1957, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Esther Jane (Amos) Snyder of Brookville RD. Mrs. Boyer was born in East Sandy on September 23, 1879, a daughter of Daniel A. and Matilda J. Haggerty Brown. Mrs. Boyer was first married on December 9, 1897, to George Washington Showers who died September 20, 1914. On April 4, 1915, in Nickleville, she married John Charles Fremont Boyer, who died June 22, 1927. She resided in Knox until leaving six years ago to make her home with her daughter in Brookville. In addition to her daughter one son, George Harold Showers of Oil City, survives Mrs. Boyer. A son, Earl Finey Showers, aged two years, died in 1907. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Steele of Youngstown, OH, and Mrs. Myrtle Roberts of Oil City, and a brother, Frank A. Brown of Franklin. In addition, surviving are 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews in this vicinity.
