"ANNA KNOTT SMITH, 96, Lebanon, died at 11:50 a.m., July 18, 1996, at Cedar's of Lebanon Nursing Home, Lebanon. Born Oct. 11, 1899 in Marion County, she was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Joseph Hugh Smith, who died Oct. 2, 1959; her parents, George Edward and Mary Frances Mattingly Knott; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Smith; and a
son, Louis Bertrand Smith. Survivors include: one son, Ted Smith of Louisville; four daughters, Verna Mae Greenwell of Bardstown, Huberta Canary of Birmingham, Ala., Rita Knopp of Dayton, Ohio and Rose Browning of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m., July 20, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Mark Spalding officiated. Pallbearers were Maurice Spalding, Dr. Joe Green, Doug Jenkins, Joe Fowler, Elmer George and Joe George. Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of
contributions to the American Alzheimer's Association."
