Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Lewistown to Elmer and Jennie Barrett Arnett, he married Edna Baer on Feb. 3, 1946, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Nick (and Suzanne) of Gurnee, Rollin (and Rose) of Princeville, and Clinton (and Nikki) and Jeff, both of Peoria; four daughters, Jennifer (and Steve) Downard of Peoria, Nancy (and Mike) Sudduth of De Soto, Kan., Colleen (and Mike) Wade of Elmwood and Lisa (and Tim) Kurtz of Phoenix; two sisters, June Jackson of Lewistown and Cathleen Cremeens of Decatur; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and two grandsons preceded him in death.
A member of American Legion Post 2, he was a World War II Army veteran and received the Silver Star.
A member of Carpenters Local 183, he was a carpenter for Hoerr & Sons, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of North Park Baptist Church in Peoria.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. The Rev. Tom Forrster will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Graveside military rites will be conducted by his American Legion post.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Danville.
