Conrad M. Tharp passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. T. Ellison, near Unionville, Iowa, Saturday, September 11, 1926, 10 o'clock p.m. at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 4 days.
In February 1858, he was united in marriage with Margrete Sidwell, who preceded him in death 18 years. To this union was born eight children, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. W. T. Ellison of Unionville, Ia.; Mrs. Ben Elder of Ottumwa; Mrs. Silas Matherley of Moravia; Mrs Walter Clark of Udell; Chas. Tharp of West Grove; W. M. Tharp of Bloomfield; Emery Tharp of Omaha, Neb.; and Ed Tharp of Colorado.
Besides the children, he leaves to mourn his death one brother, Nathan Tharp and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Miller and Mrs. Sarah Humphreys, all residing in Nebraska; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ellison, Monday, Sept. 13, at 1 o'clock. Interment was made in the Center cemetery (aka Mounts Cemetery) near Ash Grove. Rev. L. D. Easton, pastor of the Unionville Baptist church was the officiating minister.
