Raised in California's San Joaquin Valley. Third of five children. Obtained degree in physics from Pomona College CA in 1926. Married Sarah Elizabeth Yoder, Jun 29, 1929; parents of two daughters and three sons. Earned a PhD in physics in 1931 from CalTech. By 1944, he was a full professor of physics. Belonged to the cosmic ray research group of Robert A. Millikan (Nobel Prize, Physics, 1923) for 20 years. Served on the CalTech faculty for 40 years (1931-1970).

No services will be held for H. Victor Neher, who died on Nov. 11 at the Rogue Valley Manor Health Care Center in Medford, Ore. He was 95.
Mr. Neher was born in Kansas. He moved from Watsonville to Oregon seven years ago. While in Watsonville he worked as a teacher and was a member at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Aptos.
He is survived by three sons, Philip Neher of Corvallis, Ore., Stephen Neher of Aptos, and Andrew Neher of Aptos; two daughters, Topsy Smalley of Aptos and Merilyn Rutishauser of Lexington, Mass.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Sara Yoder, died on Sept. 8.
Contributions are preferred to a charity of choice.
