Joseph Leroy Jessop was a Millville native, the son of Thomas E. and Marion Holt Jessop. He spent his early years farming in Pocatello Valley, and he could remember when that valley was plowed with oxen. For many years he did custom spraying in addition to farming. He was a veteran of World War I where he spent part of his time breaking horses.
On May 10, 1926, he married Jane Hughes, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Jenkins Hughes. She was born January 22, 1905, in Samaria, Idaho; and she was a school teacher before her marriage.
Joseph loved horses and rode until he was 88 years of age. He rode in most of the parades in the valley.
Jane had a great love for children and spent many years teaching in Sunday School and Primary. She was a Visiting Teacher for over fifty years. She shared her beautiful flowers with her neighbors. Her family was the center of her life. Jane died September to, 1980.
Their children are: Beth, Bonnie and Ramona.
