|Birth: ||Feb., 1807|
County Mayo, Ireland
|Death: ||Apr. 5, 1893|
John Curry was born John Corrigan, son of Patrick Corrigan, Sr. and Rose Ann Folun and the husband of Jane Garner.
John Corrigan changed his surname to 'Curry' after his marriage in 1830. Then he and his family emigrated to Canada in 1840. Curry was the grandfather of General Arthur William Currie. When he first arrived in Canada in 1840 he and his family lived for several months in Kerwood. Then in late 1840 they moved to a new home in Adelaide, Ontario (Lot 15, 5th concession). Upon his death he was eulogized as follows: "He was a most zealous and consistent (Methodist church) member to the end of his life. He possessed a wonderfully retentive memory, an indomitable will, and always had the courage of his convictions." He had a very large funeral procession and Arthur William Currie was one of his pallbearers.
