Lyle A. Bowman, 74, prominent Lovell attorney, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at the North Big Horn county hospital where he had been a patient for two months.
He was born May 28, 1889, at Salina, Kan., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bowman. He was married to Bertha Davis July 18, 1916, in Billings. He was a resident of Lovell for 47 years. He was president of the Wyoming State Bar association in 1942. He was Wyoming state drainage commissioner for four years. He served in the state legislature as representative and later as a state senator from Big Horn county.
The Wyoming State Bar association present Mr. Bowman with a plaque honoring him for 50 years of law practice at last year's meeting of the association.
He was a graduate of the law school at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1911, and he practiced law in Longmont, Colo., before coming to Lovell in 1916.
He was a member of the Lovell Masonic lodge, the Elks lodge and the Methodist church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Betty Bowman; one son, Robert B. Bowman, Lovell; and two grandchildren, Nancy and Scott Bowman. One son, William died in infancy in 1918.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Lovell Methodist church with the Rev. Samuel Day officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Lovell city cemetery with the Haskell Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
