"The Birmingham News" - April 7, 1988:

Miss Bettie Gross, 95, of 1325 17th Ave. South, died Wednesday. She was a member of Cathedral Church of the Advent and a registered nurse for Birmingham Public Schools for 43 years. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Johns-Ridout's Southside.
Survivors include four cousins, Mrs. Callie Wilder, Amherst, IL, Mrs. Greene Burkes, Opelika, AL, Mrs. Lera Smith, LaFayette, AL, and Jim Gross, Panama City, FL.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Humane Society.
