Clay passed away in his childhood home in Tarpley with his family by his side.
Clay left us for the big arena in the sky. He was a true one of a kind cowboy. His "yes M'am" tip your hat and hand shake was the real deal. His smile could make all your worries go away. He never met a stranger and never stopped helping those less fortunate. He is preceded in death by his daughter Ashley, his mom and dad (Dag and Perk) Billings all of Tarpley.
Clay is survived by his beautiful wife Linda and daughter Clacy of Tarpley. His brother Howard Billings and wife Mary Kay of Tarpley. His sister in law Becky and husband Jack Preston of San Antonio, sister in law, Judy and husband Chris Ramsey of Utopia and brother in law Shreves Minton Jr. and wife Jeannie of Utopia. His nieces Wende Bridger, Jodee Welch, Misty McBee, Krissy Rhodes and Julie Ann Chambers. His nephews Tye Billings, Josh Ramsey, Lonnie Ritterbach and Chad Ritterbach. Numerous Aunt's and Uncle's.
He was blessed with many friends and considered them his family. Clay, his brother Howard and Butter Crane were in partnership at the Hondo Livestock barn. Clay was a loving husband, father, uncle, brother in law, nephew and friend.
Clay was a Texas and National champion calf roper and runner up to many other awards. His belt buckles and saddles show his dedication to the Rodeo. He shared his talent with many of the ropers that are on the circuit today.
His body is gone but Clay will live on forever in our hearts and spirit.
In his words, he "hosed off" and "brushed up" to go be with the "Big Cat" in heaven. He knew his daughter, Ashley, was waiting for him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at the Bandera Bank - "Clacy College Fund".
