Mrs. Katherine Hinchman, 90, died at 11:25 a.m. today in the Jackson Nursing Home, where she had been living the last five years after a long period of ill health.
A resident of Rushville the last 15 years, Mrs. Hinchman formerly lived in Union Township for more than 40 years. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
After graduating from Glenwood High School in 1896, Mrs. Hinchman taught school for a few years in one-room school buildings - one of sod-type structure near Big Springs Nebraska. During this time she rode a horse back and forth to school.
She was born in Fayette County on June 28, 1877, a daughter of Agnew G. and Martha Ellen Murray Ryburn, and was married January 27, 1904 to Earl S. Hinchman. He died April 2, 1944.
Survivors inlcude two daughters, Mrs. Robert E. (Helen) Osting an Mrs. Robert (Marian) McGraw, both of Union Township (R.R. 7 Rushville) four grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
One son, Eddie was killed in World War II and another son Howard (Hod) Hinchman died December 17, 1966. Two brothers, two sisters and a grandson also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Moster and Sons Mortuary, where friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday, with burial in East Hill Cemetery.
