Joseph Adolph Tupa was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Veseleyville, N.D., the son of Joseph J. and Rose (Matejcek). He grew up and attended school in Veseleyville. He farmed in Vesleyville and Fordville, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Fordville and worked as a truck driver for Bradshaw Gravel. He also lived in the Niagara-Petersburg, N.D., area and worked as a truck driver for Schiffler Construction of Fargo. He retired in 1980.

In his retirement, he worked as a security guard for Boeing Co.

He married Eleanor M. Haugen on Feb. 10, 1945 in Abilene, Texas.

She survives, along with a son, Paul (Sharon) Tupa , Northwood, N.D.; daughter, Debra (Edward) Evenstad, Northwood, N.D.; six grandchildren, Chad Tupa , Trisha (Bryan) Rogers, Matthew Tupa , Jessica Evenstad, Tony Evenstad and Timmy Evenstad; one great-grandson, Mitchell Rogers; brother, Ben (Iva) Tupa , Grafton, N.D.; and a sister, Stephanie (Albert) Shirek, Lawton, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dorothy Ann Tupa ; grandson, Corey Paul Tupa ; sisters, Rose Melcer, Marie Gjevre and Marcy Schildberger.
