Larry R. Daugherty, age 63, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Daugherty was born July 21, 1944 in Niota, Tennessee. He has lived in Oliver Springs since early childhood.

Larry was a retired security officer who worked for TVA at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. He is a United States Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by a daughter; Sheri Daugherty, by his parents; Horace and Daisy Bowling Daugherty, by two brothers; Olaf Daugherty, and Wendell Daugherty, and by his in laws; Emmett and Ethel Hall.

His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandson, Jackson "Taz" Daugherty, and his dog Ellie Mae. He also enjoyed his church, the Beech Park Baptist Church Drama team, music and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Janice Hall Daugherty, by a son; Larry Ryan Daugherty and wife Cathy, by a grandson; Jackson Daugherty, by a grand-daughter; Heidi Davis, all of Oliver Springs, by a sister; Christine Hatfield of Kingston, by brother in laws, Kelly Hall and wife Mary of Oliver Springs, Kent Hall and wife Gale of Sevierville, a sister in law, Helen Daugherty of Oliver Springs, by nieces and nephews, Suzanne Woodall and husband Dana of Oliver Springs, Samantha Farmer of Coalfield, Brad Hall and wife Kim of Sevierville, Joy Hall and wife Ashley of Sevierville, Anna Tedder and husband Terry of Harriman, and Cindy Brown and husband Michael of Oliver Springs, by special friends; Tommy Clark of Spring City, Sue Braden of Oliver Springs, Christy Wilson of whom he considered as a daughter, and the Beech Park Church family.

His family would like to thank the nursing staff of 4 North at the University of TN Medical Center, the Oak Ridge Dialysis Center, the transplant team, Dr. Denise Rivers, Dr. Mitchell Goldman, Dr. David Compton, and Dr. Singh.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 24, 2008 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Robbie Leach and Gary Smith officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Sunday, May 25, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Oliver Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to the Beech Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 606 Butler Mill Road, Oliver Springs, TN 37840. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
