Man Killed, Another Hurt in Accident
One man was killed, another was injured and two others, all occupants of the same car, suffered bruises in an accident on the Central Oregon highway east of Bend this morning at 1:30 o'clock.
Neil Nichols, Jr., 32, Box 280, Ridgefield, Wash., was instantly killed when a car operated by Will H. Know, 39, Portland, left the highway and turned over several times.
Nichols was thrown from the rolling car, as it flipped into a roadside borrow pit. The accident occurred at a point about three miles east of Brothers.
The car in which Nichols was riding was moving east. Knox apparently attempted to pass another east-bound car. As he swung to the left, a recapped tire blew out, throwing the car from the road.
With Nichols and Knox in the car were two other men, L. J. Jolivette, of West Linn, near Portland, and R. L. Jolivette, of Oregon City. J. L. Jolivette, 59, suffered some head injuries and was taken to the Burns hospital.
State and Deschutes county officers investigated. The body of the Washington man was brought to Bend.
