William "Mosby" Collins
Birth: unknown
Death: Jul. 11, 1864

Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was a Private in Company D, 88th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Known as "Mosby", he was a Union prisoner of war at the infamous Andersonville prison camp and leader of the group collectively known as "Mosby's Raiders". The group beat, stole from, murdered and terrorized fellow Union prisoners before they revolted. In a trial conducted by the prisoners, and endorsed by Prison commander Captain Henry Wirtz, the six "Raiders" were found guilty, and hanged. Their remains were interred away from the rest of the Union soldiers who died at the prison.
