Services for David Gene Hall, M.D., 41, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 28, 2001, at St. Dominic Medical Center in Jackson will be at 11 a.m. today at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Dr. Hall was born Sept. 27, 1959, in Hazlehurst, the son of Bobby Gene Hall and Joyce Cole Hall. He was a board certified family practice physician and a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from South Natchez High School, Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Dr. Hall did his residency in family practice with the University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Family Medicine, where he served as chief resident his senior year.

During his residency, he received the Outstanding Scientific Paper Award for the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Outstanding Resident in Family Medicine Award and the Resident Teacher Award given by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. During his years of practice, Dr. Hall received the president's award from the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians and served on a number of committees for the American Academy of Family Physicians, such as the credentials committee, where he served as chairman; alternate delegate; state delegate; the reference committee on organization and finance; and the commission on membership and member services. For the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, he served as director of district three for two terms, on the board of trustees, as the alternate delegate to the AAFP, as delegate to the AAFP, and on the membership committee, where he served two years as chairman. He also served on the program committee, as the chairman of the annual session, on the resident and student liaison committee, as chairman and co-chairman of the Legislative Committee and as the MAFP-UMC residency liaison committee chairman. For the Mississippi State Medical Association, he served on the congress of delegates, as president of the young physicians section and governing council, on the council on scientific programs, the council on constitution and bylaws, the council on legislation, and the judicial council. He served on the Mississippi Foundation for Medical Care for 13 years, serving five years on the board of directors, two years on the executive committee and as treasurer. Dr. Hall was a member of the medical staff at Natchez Community Hospital. He has served as chief of the family practice section; on the pharmacy and therapeutics committee, serving one term as chairman; on the intensive care unit committee serving two terms; on the executive committee serving two terms; as the secretary of medical staff; as the co-director of the chemical dependency unit, on the professional activities committee, serving two terms; on the board of directors, serving two terms as chairman; and as vice chairman of the medical staff; and as chief of staff.

Dr. Hall was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ollie Lee Hall, and his grandmother, Irene Shelton Cole.

Survivors include his wife, Christina Womack Hall; his children, Holly Elizabeth Hall, Matthew Womack Hall and Emily Dixon Hall; his parents, Bobby and Joyce Hall of Natchez; one grandmother, Willena Temple Hall of Natchez; one grandfather, W.T. Cole of Hazlehurst; and his in-laws, Sonny and Veronica Womack of Jackson.
